Legal advice for road and traffic charges in Scotland

All motorists are entitled to high standards of legal representation or advice. Irrespective of the offence, our team at Keep Me Driving will help you through the process.

Motoring offences

Motoring offences can range in seriousness from the relatively minor to the extremely grave. The penalty can be a fine, points, a disqualification from driving or, at the most serious end of the scale, imprisonment. At Keep Me Driving, we provide you with legal services which are tailored to dealing with all of these types of motoring offences. We hope to obtain the best result possible. Sometimes this might mean an acquittal. On other occasions, it might mean you are facing up to the reality of having to plead guilty. However, we will be keen to limit the scope of any penalty and hopefully avoid any driving ban being imposed. Although, sometimes this is out of our control when mandatory disqualification applies.

Fees

Over the last few years, The Scottish Legal Aid Board has almost entirely withdrawn the availability of Legal Aid to those charged with motoring offences. As a consequence, we do not offer Legal Aid for motoring matters in Scotland. Instead, we work on a private fee paying basis. The fees are either paid by the client or, more increasingly, by motor insurers. This is of course only available if you have legal expenses cover and your insurance company accepts Keep Me Driving as your solicitor of choice.

Where the fees are to be paid by the client, we have taken the decision to withdraw hourly charging. Our fees are fixed and you will be informed at the outset exactly how much your case will cost from start to finish. There will be no nasty surprises at the conclusion of the case. The fees are of course payable win, lose or draw.
